Studying in the UK

UKIVC can offer expert advice to make sure your application is correct and contains all the information in the right format for submission to the Home Office.

The following is an extract from the Immigration Rules in relation to studying in the UK:

“(a)The applicant must not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.
(b)The applicant must have a minimum of 30 points under paragraphs 113 to 120 of Appendix A.
(c)The applicant must have a minimum of 10 points under paragraphs10 to 14 of Appendix C.
(ca) The applicant must, if required to do so on examination or interview, be able to demonstrate without the assistance of an interpreter English language proficiency of a standard to be expected from an individual who has reached the standard specified in a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies assigned in accordance with Appendix A
paragraph 118(b) (for the avoidance of doubt, the applicant will not be subject to a test at the standard set out in Appendix A, paragraph 118(b)”

Probably the most popular route of Entry Clearance to the UK is the Student Visa. These visas come under the Points Based System (PBS) and cover those wishing to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate studies leading to a doctorate or master’s degree and who are over 16 years of age.

Children who are at least 4 years old and under 18 who wish to be educated in the UK can apply for a Tier 4 (Child) Student visa.

As with all applications of Leave to Enter or Remain, the Student Visas rules are lengthy and complicated. It is easy to misinterpret meanings or often not understand them at all. Expert advice is crucial to make sure your application is correct and contains all the information in the right format for submission to the Home Office.
